After Sweden and Truls Möregårdh's double silver success in the Olympic Games in Paris last summer, SVT is investing in table tennis. The World Tour and the World Championship over the next four years will be broadcast on SVT.

The first championship will be the World Championship in Doha, Qatar, which starts on Saturday.

We have long seen a great interest in table tennis when it goes well for the Swedish players. The successes in recent times have taken the popularity to a new level, evidence of this is that Truls Möregårdh won the Jerring Award at the Sports Gala. So we are happy to make this investment, says SVT's sports manager Max Bursell to the channel's website.

Regarding the World Tour (WTT) SVT has purchased the rights to a total of eleven competitions per year. The autumn's team European Championship will also be shown on SVT.

For the upcoming World Championship, in addition to Möregårdh, Anton Källberg, Mattias Falck, Kristian Karlsson, Linda Bergström, Stina Källberg, and Filippa Bergand have qualified.
