This year, SVT has implemented a savings package of SEK 355 million, with the result that approximately 100 people have had to leave the public service company and another 40 have been reassigned.
The cuts are due to SVT's expanded mission for digital preparedness and the fact that the costs of the terrestrial network have increased significantly since commercial channels left.
But viewers won't feel it as much in the autumn's offering, which has now been presented. Among other things, SVT is investing heavily in the election campaign. However, it will be noticeable next year.
The savings are primarily from 2027. So in the long term you will notice more, it may be favourite programs that are paused, says Anne Lagercrantz.
Carina Bergfeldt's talk show, the reality programmes "Hotel Romantik" and "Who lives here?" and the current affairs magazine "30 minutes" are among those that are disappearing completely or have been paused.
We do everything we can to ensure that the audience is as little affected as possible, but it will be noticeable, because these are beloved programs that are disappearing.
Among other things, Carina Bergfeldt's programme will not be replaced by any new talk show on Friday nights this autumn. Instead, that schedule slot will be given over to purchased foreign series.
No, however, we still have Skavlan on Thursdays and we have quite a few "spoken" formats, such as "Sverige Live" and our "byrå" programmes. But we don't have that type of entertainment talk show anymore, says SVT's programme director Eva Beckman.
