The idea behind the eight-hour “Festival” is to bring the magic of a festival to viewers’ homes, no matter where they live.
“Not everyone can go to a festival, so we bring the festival to people’s homes instead. It should feel like a community,” says Eva Beckman.
During the evening, concerts featuring, among others, Markus Krunegård, Veronica Maggio and Zara Larsson will be shown.
There will also be smaller live performances by Maipei and Ellen Krauss, secret guests and several documentaries, including “We Were The Ark”. The evening will be hosted by Messiah Hallberg.
To enhance the festival feel, viewers will be able to share their experience with other viewers and artists in the Duo app.
“Half the fun at a festival is talking to others, and if you’re watching alone, you can chat with others,” says Eva Beckman.
Two of the evening’s premieres are “Sexpredikanten”, about Malena Ivarsson, and a previously unseen recording of Markus Krunegård’s concert at Globen.
“I wasn’t able to attend Krunegård’s concert at Globen, so I’m looking forward to seeing it now,” says Eva Beckman.
If the format works well, “Festival” could become an annual tradition.
“I hope it will be like ‘The Great Elk Migration’, which started as an experiment and just grew and grew.”
“Festival” will air on October 24 at 5 pm on SVT Play.
