He took up the position in May this year and has therefore held the position for only seven months.
The government writes in the press release that it has been decided, in consultation with Eckemark, that he will leave his current assignment and instead become Director General of the Government Offices.
"Per Eckemark has made valuable contributions during his time at Svenska kraftnät, including by working towards the modernization and expansion of the transmission network, which creates the conditions for a secure electricity supply throughout Sweden," the government writes.
Acting Director General and Head of Svenska kraftnät will be Thomas Pålsson.
The staff at Svenska kraftnät received information about Eckemark's departure in a video meeting at lunchtime on Thursday.
Before that, we knew nothing, says Patrik Svensson, press officer at Svenska kraftnät.
TT is looking for Per Eckemark for comment.
