Jonna Sundling finished second, 1.78 seconds behind Svahn, followed by third-place Johanna Hagström, who was 2.6 seconds behind the leader.
Moa Ilar and Maja Dahlqvist also advanced from the qualifiers. This means all Swedes are still in contention when the quarterfinals begin at 6:30 p.m.
On the men's side, Anton Grahn (16th), Erik Johansson (17th) and George Ersson (26th) advanced. Truls Gisselman, Gustaf Berglund and Johan Ekberg were eliminated.
