At 11 a.m. on Tuesday, a member of the public raised the alarm about a suspected dangerous object in a plastic bag.
"We can confirm that it is a hand grenade," said Katarina Rusin, press spokesperson for Police Region South.
A VMA (Important Public Notice) was issued, but has now been revoked.
The barriers that were set up at Skeppsbron have been lifted.
