Russia wants to break Western dominance in space and destroy communications from satellites that help Ukraine on the battlefield. Now two NATO intelligence agencies suspect that Russia is developing a weapon that will knock out satellites in orbit around the Earth, reports the AP.

The satellites in question belong to Elon Musk's Starlink network, which has been crucial to Ukraine's defense capabilities.

According to the information, Russia wants to flood the satellites' orbit with hundreds of thousands of small pellets that will collide with the satellites and knock them out.

Experts, who have not reviewed the documentation, believe that such a maneuver would pose a danger to other satellites used for civilian purposes in countries other than Ukraine.

The information has been provided to AP on the condition that the intelligence services not be named, and AP has not been able to confirm it.
