The police received alarms for several days about rose sellers in Jämtland, Västernorrland and Västerbotten, who were suspected of engaging in some form of fraud. According to the suspicions, they had knocked on the doors of, above all, older people and claimed to be selling roses for the benefit of various types of charity.
"In some cases, the person has managed to deceive and get money, and in that case, the police are investigating the matter as fraud", the police wrote on their website during the weekend.
On Monday, the police received new calls about rose sellers, then in Arjeplog in Norrbotten. At 5 pm, the police stopped a car in the area and two people could then be arrested. They have since been detained by the prosecutor.
