Suspected rape in closed psychiatric ward at Sundsvall Hospital

A man was arrested earlier this week on suspicion of rape at Sundsvall Hospital. Both the suspect and the victim were being treated in the hospital's psychiatric ward.

"I can confirm that a suspected rape occurred in an inpatient ward on Monday," Tomas Almroth, acting director of operations for psychiatry, told SVT Västernorrland.

Region Västernorrland confirmed that "a serious incident has occurred at one of our psychiatric inpatient wards in Sundsvall."

The suspect denies the crime, his lawyer said, according to TV4 Nyheterna.
