Remains found in burned-out car – suspected murder

Human remains have been found after a car fire outside Luleå. A preliminary investigation into murder has been opened.

The crime is believed to have been committed around December 1, reports P4 Norrbotten .

A car was on fire. When investigative measures were carried out, human remains were found in the car, police spokesperson Marie Andersson told TT.

The dead person has not yet been identified.

A man in his 60s and a woman in her 50s were arrested on suspicion of being involved in the crime. The man was requested to be detained on suspicion of murder and aggravated assault, but was released by the court. The woman was detained as a reasonable suspect, a lower level of suspicion, for aggravated assault.

The man is still a suspect in the investigation, prosecutor Joseph Ricken tells TT.

He does not want to comment further on why the woman and man were arrested.

There were circumstances that pointed to these two people.
