"No one has been arrested. We are talking to witnesses at the hospital and in the city center right now," says police spokesperson Leif Fransson.
The police were alerted to the incident at 6:18 p.m.
"We received an alarm about a fight in central Kristianstad, but before we got there, relatives had taken the man to the hospital. We currently do not know whether he died on the way there or in the hospital," says Leif Fransson.
It became so chaotic at the hospital that the emergency room was closed for a while during the evening.
At 7:56 p.m., the police announced that the injured person had died and that the crime classification had been changed to suspected murder.
