Police arrived at the residence late Sunday evening.
"There was another person in the apartment, a woman, who managed to get out and stop a passing car. She then called us," said Marcus Andersson of the Helsingborg police to Helsingborgs Dagblad.
The suspect, a 35-year-old man, was arrested at the apartment and later taken into custody. He is suspected of kidnapping and aggravated assault of the man and of assaulting the woman.
He denies the crime, prosecutor and head of the preliminary investigation Joel Malmkvist told TT.
According to Malmkvist, it is unclear how long the man was held in the apartment. He was taken by ambulance to hospital. The injuries are not considered life-threatening.
