Dubai police say they have arrested an "Irish fugitive who has suspected links to an international criminal network."
Irish media have confirmed that the man is Daniel Kinahan, whom the country's judiciary has identified as the leader of the Kinahan Cartel. The cartel is in a feud with another, a conflict that has claimed at least 18 lives in Ireland since 2015.
Kinahan fled to Spain after a failed assassination attempt in 2016, and later to Dubai. From there, he is suspected of running the cartel, which has been sanctioned by the US and is suspected of involvement in drug trafficking and money laundering.
