It was an unarmed hand grenade. But in the form we found the grenade, it could not have exploded, says Anna Westberg, press spokesperson at the police.
The alarm came at 22:00 on Tuesday after a private individual found the hand grenade. The area was cordoned off and residents in the vicinity were evacuated or sheltered.
According to the police, there were people inside the villa closest to the live grenade, but they cannot comment on whether there was a threat.
We are looking into connections to other cases, says Anna Westberg.
No one has been arrested for the deed. An investigation into attempted public endangerment and violation of the law on flammable and explosive goods has been initiated.
