The police responded on Saturday morning to the Rosengård district in Malmö after a suspected dangerous object was found in a stairwell.
Just before 1 pm, the police announced that the national bomb squad had been on site and that the object has been neutralized and seized.
The object was a live hand grenade, according to the police.
According to P4 Malmöhus, it was found in a nine-story building and the residents were relocated.
The police are now investigating attempted public endangerment and unlawful threats, but no one has been arrested.
The blockades have been lifted.
