Live Object Disarmed in Eskilstuna Villa Area Evacuation

A suspected dangerous object has been disarmed by the police near a villa in Eskilstuna.

National bomb protection was called to the address after the object was discovered at 6 pm. The object was assessed as live and just before 10 pm, the police announced that it had been neutralized. According to information to TV4 it is a hand grenade.

It is an object that has been assessed as dangerous by the bomb protection, says the police's press spokesperson Martina Gradian to TT.

The area is cordoned off for a technical investigation and a preliminary investigation into attempted public destruction has been initiated. No person is suspected.

Residents of the house and in about ten nearby houses in the villa area were evacuated in connection with the police operation. Most of the total 18 people had been allowed to return home late on Monday evening.

The police came and knocked on the door. They said it was urgent, says a person who lives in the area to Eskilstuna-Kuriren.
