The arrest was made in cooperation with French police and Europol. The man is described as a high-priority figure in the Swedish-led Europol operation Grimm, where 11 European countries are working together to stop violence that is ordered and coordinated digitally.
The man will be requested to be handed over.
Since last year, nine high-priority figures, so-called "high value targets", have been arrested in police cooperation.
"All of these have had a major impact on violence in Sweden and the arrests, together with other measures, are the reason why we now have lower levels of violence in Sweden," says Christer Axling, international coordinator for intelligence-led coordination of crime prevention at Noa, in a press release.
