The woman arrived in Bangalore on May 23, reports The Times of India. After checking into a hotel, she developed mild symptoms, including body aches, and was then transferred to a hospital.

If the Ebola infection is confirmed, it will be India's first case of the disease since 2014.

The ongoing Ebola outbreak in the Democratic Republic of the Congo and Uganda was first reported in May, and on May 17, the WHO declared an international health emergency. As of Monday, more than 900 suspected cases had been identified, according to the WHO.

The Ebola virus causes hemorrhagic fever. There are no vaccines or specific treatments for the Bundibugyo variant, which is behind the current outbreak.
