Two live hand grenades were found on Wednesday morning outdoors in the Hässleholmen district of Borås. A suspected person has been detained.

The police were alerted just after 7:30 am about the first suspected dangerous object. Then another one was discovered.

During ongoing work, the patrol found another suspected hand grenade. So there are two that we are handling there now, said Fredrik Svedemyr, press spokesperson for the police.

Residents in the vicinity were urged after the discovery of the two objects not to go out. Even a nearby school with 800 students was evacuated, reports SVT News West.

Later, the police confirmed that it was about two hand grenades that were deemed live. They had been secured by the police's bomb experts by lunchtime, but some blockades were still in place.

The National Bomb Protection Unit has handled the objects, so there is no reason for the evacuations to remain, says Fredrik Svedemyr.

On the other hand, we are keeping some blockades in place for investigative technical reasons.

One person has been detained, suspected of attempting gross general destruction.
