A suspected dangerous object in Spånga in northern Stockholm has been detonated by the police.
We consider it serious, says the police's press spokesperson Daniel Wikdahl.
He does not want to say what kind of object was found outdoors in a residential area.
The police were alerted at 20.10 on Thursday.
The area was cordoned off and adjacent buildings were evacuated. The national bomb squad was called in. After the bomb squad examined the object, the decision was made to destroy it through a controlled detonation.
The incident is being investigated as an attempt at serious public destruction.
The police currently see no connection to the incident in Sundbyberg earlier in the evening when some suspected dangerous objects were thrown into a restaurant.
