A suspected dangerous object was found between two residential buildings in the Stenkulla area of Nyköping late on Monday evening. The police had a large operation on site and residents of one house were evacuated.

We received an alarm about a suspected dangerous object at 22.38 and then the National Bomb Squad was called to the scene and they worked there throughout the night, says Camilla Larsson, duty officer at the Police Region East.

The cordons were lifted just before 3 am.

The object has been seized and it has been neutralized. Unfortunately, I cannot confirm whether it was a dangerous object or not, says Camilla Larsson.

The police have initiated a preliminary investigation into attempted public endangerment.
