A 20-year-old man and a 55-year-old man have been arrested after what is believed to be a hand grenade was thrown into a local establishment in Malmö early on Sunday morning, without detonating.
They were caught at a vehicle checkpoint in a municipality north of Malmö, says Fredrik Bratt, the police's press spokesperson.
After questioning during the morning, the police announced at 11 am that the arrested men had been detained.
An alarm was received at 03.27 about an object being thrown into the establishment, which houses a billiard hall, on Västra Hindbyvägen in Malmö. The bomb squad was called in and the object was seized during the morning.
We believe it's a live hand grenade, says Fredrik Bratt.
A preliminary investigation has been initiated regarding attempted general destruction and violation of the law on flammable and explosive goods.
