At 2 pm on Sunday, an alarm was raised that a private person had found a suspected hazardous object outdoors at an industrial property.
The police cordoned off an area around the object. At 4:45 pm, the police announced that the national bomb squad had carried out a controlled detonation of the object.
It is believed to be a live hand grenade that has been neutralized on site, says the police's press spokesperson Filip Annas.
The police's technicians will investigate the scene. The incident is classified as attempted public endangerment and serious crime against the law on flammable and explosive goods.
In connection with the discovery of the hand grenade, a VMA, important message to the public, was issued, where people were urged not to enter the cordoned-off area. Additionally, several residents in the vicinity were accommodated elsewhere.
Earlier in the day, a suspected hazardous object was also found in Kristianstad. The police do not currently link it to the hand grenade in Hörby.
