The alarm came at 2 pm on Sunday.
It was a person who found an object at some kind of workplace, says the police's press spokesperson Filip Annas.
The police cordoned off an area around the object. At 4:30 pm, the police announced that the national bomb squad had moved it a bit inside the cordoned-off area and carried out a controlled detonation. What it was is not known.
The police earlier urged people not to go inside the cordons. Those who were already there were urged to stay indoors.
Earlier in the day, a suspected dangerous object was also found in Kristianstad. The police do not currently link it to the object in Hörby.
