The alarm was received just before 10 p.m. on Sunday after the object was discovered outside a townhouse, and it was not until 2:20 a.m. that the National Bomb Squad managed to remove the object.
We have a pretty good idea of what it is, but it's nothing we can share at the moment," says Pontus Sandulf, duty officer at the Stockholm Police.
A large area was cordoned off and residents in the area were advised to stay indoors while waiting for the National Bomb Squad. The cordons have now been lifted.
They assessed the object as sharp but managed to transport it away without blowing it up," says Pontus Sandulf.
The police have launched a preliminary investigation into attempted public destruction, but as of 4 a.m. no one had been arrested.
