The ship recently reflagged from the Comoros to Cameroon to obtain permission to sail and leave Sweden. But the reflagging turned out to be false, and plans to release the ship were halted. Now a crime is suspected to be behind the reflagging, according to Expressen.
"I have initiated a preliminary investigation into the use of a false document, a serious crime," senior prosecutor Adrien Combier-Hogg told the newspaper.
Sea Owl 1 was boarded in March outside Trelleborg.
