Man arrested in Värmdö bag murder case involving body found in 2024

A man wanted in connection with the high-profile murder of a man whose body was found in a bag on Värmdö, outside Stockholm, in 2024 has been arrested, Expressen reports.

“I can confirm that he is being held on probable cause for murder and gross breach of the peace,” district prosecutor Cecilia Tepper tells the newspaper.

The arrest is said to have taken place “in the near future”, according to the prosecutor. The man’s lawyer tells the newspaper that he denies the charges.

Two other people, including the wife of the man who has now been arrested, have previously been convicted of involvement in the incident, but not of murder.

On March 10, 2024, passers-by found a large sports bag in a forested area on Värmdö. Inside the bag, wrapped in plastic bags, was the body of a 37-year-old man. He was believed to have been murdered three days earlier.
