It was 11:14 on Saturday when an ambulance was alerted on a prio 3 mission, an alarm of lower priority, in Harmånger in Nordanstig municipality. About half an hour later, at 11:40, SOS Alarm was alerted again.
Then, a man in his 25s had assaulted a female ambulance nurse with a sharp object. The woman, who was in her 45s, died from her injuries.
The suspect, who was remanded in custody by Hälsingland District Court on Monday afternoon, has admitted to certain parts of the incident.
He has admitted that he was there and used violence against the woman. Then he does not have the same opinion about the charge, but that is more of a legal issue, says prosecutor Elin Källgren.
To be investigated
The suspected murder has initiated a comprehensive investigation. According to the prosecutor, it was likely the man himself who made the first emergency call.
I have understood it as him calling due to his mental state, she says.
During the remand hearing in the afternoon, Hälsingland District Court remanded him in custody on probable cause suspected of murder, reports local media.
He will also undergo a section 7 examination, i.e. a minor forensic psychiatric examination.
Threatened with baseball bat
The man was sentenced as recently as this spring to probation for unlawful threats and assault.
A few days before Saturday's attack, he allegedly threatened ambulance staff with a baseball bat – after which he was taken to psychiatry by the police. No one was physically injured in connection with the incident.
Whether any crime is being investigated in connection with the incident is too early to say, according to Elin Källberg.
We will have to get back to that, she says.
There have been contacts with psychiatry in the near future, but I do not have a clear picture of it, so one of our areas of focus now is to investigate the background.
His defense attorney Nina Tiberg did not want to comment on the case on Monday.
I will not be making any comments at this time, but we will have to wait for the investigation, she says.
