The two men who were shot dead were a father in his 70s and his son in his 40s.

A third person was seriously injured and taken to hospital. His condition was assessed as stable on Sunday.

The arrested man is suspected of two counts of murder and one count of attempted murder. He has confessed to the act but denies trying to kill the third person.

The shooting occurred during a hunting party handing out items on Sunday. According to information provided to Norwegian media, the man had previously been a member of the hunting party.

Police have previously stated that a conflict was behind the shooting.

They are currently working to conduct a forensic psychiatric examination of the suspect, NRK reports.

According to court documents, the man's family has expressed concerns about his mental health. The documents also indicate that the court believes it is most likely that the man was of sound mind when the incident occurred.
