Several, but not all, of those who were attacked have been taken to hospital. According to the region's website, one person is being treated for serious injuries and two for minor injuries.

The motive is unclear, but the violent episode is believed to have started on Sunday morning at a hostel in Helsingborg. The police initially thought that three or four people had been attacked – but the number of victims later grew to seven.

He is supposed to have moved a bit, but it has still happened within a fairly limited area, says police press spokesperson Fredrik Bratt to TT.

Gross assault

The alarm about the incident came at 10.40. A helicopter assisted in the chase and when the man was found, they used stun guns to be able to apprehend him.

He is not believed to have used any weapon or tool.

He is suspected of attempted murder of one of the persons, gross assault of another and five cases of assault of normal degree.

The suspected perpetrator was also taken to hospital, for control after falling to the ground during the arrest.

Cameras on site

Whether the suspected man knew the victims, or if the affected were in the same or different company, is unclear.

This is something that the investigation will show, says Bratt.

The police have cordoned off for investigation and will go through surveillance cameras that may have captured the sequence of events.

It's quite intense work and there are many units involved in it.
