A boy, said to be between 12 and 17 years old, was slightly injured but was able to go home after treatment on Friday, according to the patient injury report from Region Västmanland.

Two more people, also boys between the ages of 12 and 17, are seriously injured but are said to be in stable condition. One of them underwent emergency surgery on Friday.

An 18-year-old perpetrator has been arrested and police confirm that shots were fired during the arrest. However, it is unclear whether the perpetrator was injured, according to police. He is being held in custody and is not being treated in hospital. Prosecutor Ann-Sofi Trossing does not yet want to say whether the 18-year-old has made any admissions.

There is intensive investigative work underway with interrogations and gathering information, but I do not want to go into more detail about what we have done, says Ann-Sofie Trossing.

One person was killed in the attack. The person was found when police entered the school to secure the premises. There is no information on the gender or age of the deceased.

"We cannot provide any more information at this time out of consideration for the relatives and the preliminary investigation," says Stefan Larsson, police spokesperson.

The police are currently interviewing witnesses and will also be on site in Fagersta and the surrounding area.

A massive amount of work is currently underway.
