It is the 19th time that Sveriges Radio lets listeners choose one of the summer speakers of the year, among ordinary people who tell about their life stories.
Among the eight candidates this year is 37-year-old Susanna Yakes from Botkyrka, south of Stockholm, whose daughter's death made big headlines.
"In a second, life is shattered when a bullet hits 12-year-old Adriana on a late night in August. Left standing is a mother with a future that never came to be. How could it become like this? She had broken the family's vicious circle", writes Susanna Yakes about her program.
It was the night of August 2, 2020, that several people in a car opened fire on two men who were outside a fast-food restaurant in Norsborg, south of Stockholm. The men escaped unharmed, but the girl, who was standing nearby, was killed.
Two men were sentenced to life imprisonment for murder, one person was sentenced to nine years and eight months in prison for aiding and abetting murder.
All contributions can be found on Sveriges Radio's website. Voting continues until April 21. The listener's summer host will be revealed on May 27.
