Supreme Court Upholds Residence Ban for Gothenburg Gang Leader
The Supreme Court has approved a preventive residence ban for a man identified as a leader of a criminal network in Gothenburg.
The Supreme Court is issuing its first opinion on the conditions required to impose a residence ban.
The assessment must include two stages, according to the Supreme Court: one concerning the network and one concerning the person in question. The person must be someone who “may be feared to promote certain serious crimes within the network”.
The case concerns a man whom police assess to be a leader in a criminal network in Biskopsgården, on Hisingen. According to police, the man has a well-documented record of involvement in the network’s criminal activity.
The Supreme Court finds that the conditions for imposing the residence ban, which covers large parts of Gothenburg, have been met.
