Trump has been trying to get rid of Cook since August last year, accusing her of not handling his mortgage applications properly.
But the Supreme Court finds, by a vote of 5 to 4, that the president cannot dismiss Fed officials at will.
Cook welcomes the decision, saying it “affirms” the central bank’s independence.
