Around 20 soldiers have been taken hostage by supporters of Bolivia's former President Evo Morales. The kidnapping took place in the province of Chapare, according to military sources.

In the attack on a military facility, weapons and ammunition were also stolen.

Sources within Bolivia's military say that "armed groups" are behind the kidnapping.

Morales was forced to leave power after attempting to be re-elected by changing Bolivia's constitution. He then left the country and has since come into conflict with the ruling faction within his old party.
