A new referendum on the euro in 2030 was one of the points the Liberals secured in their agreement with the Sweden Democrats. However, Swedes are currently skeptical about introducing the currency, according to the latest SOM survey from the University of Gothenburg.
Almost half, 46 percent, believe that introducing the euro is a bad idea. Only 25 percent think it is a good idea, according to the survey.
The proportion who want to introduce the euro is falling. This is something that the Sweden Democrats and the Liberals can take into account when they discuss further, says Marcus Weissenbilder, research director at the SOM Institute.
At the same time, Swedes are at a record high in their support for the EU - 67 percent are in favor of Swedish membership, while only 10 percent are against.
