South Korea's Kospi was one of the largest gainers, rising 2.3 percent in early Monday trading.
The mood on the Tokyo Stock Exchange is also strong, with the Nikkei 225 index rising by 1.5 percent and the broader Topix by 0.8 percent.
In China, Shenzhen is up 0.5 percent and Shanghai is up 0.1 percent.
The Hong Kong-based Hang Seng is unchanged.
