The night before Walpurgis Eve begins with a low-pressure system coming in from the west over the central parts of the country.
In the morning, there may be local rain, especially in southern Norrland. Over Västerbotten, it may also be snow and sleet falling during the morning hours, says Linus Karlsson, meteorologist at SMHI.
Even the easternmost parts of Svealand can expect some rain showers. But during the day, the low-pressure system moves on.
In the afternoon, there is a sunny conclusion in large parts of the country and clear skies on almost all fronts.
When the low-pressure system moves on, there may be fresh gusts of wind from Götaland up to southern Norrland. But when the bonfires are lit in the evening, the wind is expected to have died down.
In eastern Svealand, Dalarna, and southern and central Norrland, there will be some cloud cover, even though the sun peeks out around mid-day. The temperature will range between 10 and 15 degrees. It will be slightly lower in Norrland, 5 to 10 degrees.
The greatest chances of sunshine are in Götaland and the southwestern parts of Svealand. It will also be the warmest in Götaland.
Locally, it may reach up to 20 degrees, and generally between 15 and 19 degrees. So it's really spring-like warm, says Linus Karlsson.
