Things are also looking cheerful in Japan, with the Nikkei 225 up 2.4 percent and the broader Topix up 1.0 percent.
China's Shenzhen climbs 1.3 percent and Shanghai increases by 0.4 percent.
The Hong Kong-based Hang Seng is also up, by 0.6 percent.
