Gif Sundsvall's head coach Douglas Jakobsen is now taking the leap to Hammarby, where he will take on a role as an assistant coach.
"We are very happy and satisfied with the recruitment of Douglas. A well-educated, ambitious, development-oriented, and competent coach who will fit in very well with our coaching team," says Hammarby's sports director Mikael Hjelmberg in a comment on Hammarby Football's website.
At 28, Douglas Jakobsen has previously been a coach for Stockholm clubs Karlbergs BK and Sollentuna FK before becoming the head coach for Sundsvall last season. His employment at Hammarby begins immediately.
Jakobsen replaces Abel Lorincz, who is now taking on a role as coach for three clubs within Sports Republic – including Premier League club Southampton.
"It's bittersweet to leave at the same time as this is a huge opportunity for me," comments Lorincz, who will make his last match as Hammarby coach in the derby against Djurgården on Sunday.
