Friday will bring variable cloudiness, light to moderate winds and temperatures up to around 20 degrees all the way up to Norrbotten and northern Lapland, according to the meteorologist.
However, towards Tornedalen the risk of showers is slightly higher.
In any case, we have a pretty nice Midsummer Eve ahead of us in pretty much the entire country, says Angelica Lundberg.
Yellow warning for thunderstorms
Saturday will be even more eventful. SMHI has issued a yellow thunderstorm warning for Götaland, large parts of Svealand and southeastern Norrland, which is valid from 8 a.m. to 11 p.m.
We have very warm and humid air coming up from the south, where we see rain and thunderstorms that can become very heavy locally, with strong gusty winds and large amounts of rain in a short time.
SMHI warns of the risk of flooding, poor visibility and aquaplaning, among other things.
The warning covers such a large area because it is still uncertain where the worst of the storm will hit. The yellow area may become smaller, but there is also a risk that orange warnings will be issued.
At the same time, temperatures will be between 20 and 25 degrees across most of the country, except in the far north, where it will be cooler.
Increased readiness
As a result of the lightning warning, the electricity companies Eon and Ellevio are increasing their preparedness in the affected areas.
"We are closely monitoring weather developments and have strengthened our preparedness with extra resources from our contractors. Our operations center is staffed to be able to act quickly if the storm causes disruptions to the power grid," says Lena Berglund, regional manager at Eon, in a press release.
Sunday will be cooler, with temperatures ranging from 15 to 20 degrees and a mix of sun and clouds.
SMHI has three levels of weather warnings:
Yellow warning: Consequences for society, some risk to the public.
Orange warning: Serious consequences for society, danger to the public.
Red warning: Very serious consequences for society, great danger to the public.
