McIntosh struck for the second time in the Canadian qualifying competitions for the World Championship.
During the weekend, she set a world record on 400 meters freestyle and this time she became the first to swim under 2.06 on 200 meters medley.
The previous world record was 2.06,12, set by Hungarian Katinka Hosszu in the World Championship 2015.
It gives me a lot of self-confidence ahead of (the World Championship in) Singapore, says McIntosh after the performance.
The key to the new world record was that McIntosh has improved in breaststroke, her weakest discipline of the four swimming styles.
Summer McIntosh took three gold and one silver medals at the Olympic Games in Paris this summer.
