Recently, SMHI could establish that it has been summer in Skåne's Hörby and in Mariestad and Skövde in Västergötland since April 11.
After that, summer has arrived in, among other places, Halland, additional parts of Västergötland, and southwestern Småland.
In the area where it is summer now, it usually arrives sometime between May 5 and 10, says Katarina Andersson, meteorologist at SMHI.
To qualify as a meteorological summer, the daily mean temperature must have been at least ten degrees for five consecutive days.
This year's arrival date for summer, April 11, is the third earliest that SMHI is aware of. Last year, the first arrival date for summer was April 6, and in 1906, it was April 10.
