The suicide bombing occurred in the city of Peshawar in the restive Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, which borders Afghanistan. Militant violence has increased in the area since the Taliban regained power in Kabul in 2021.
An explosion occurred at the main entrance. Two other people who tried to attack the site were shot dead, according to police.
Police Chief Saeed Ahmad stated that a large number of people were inside the headquarters when the attack occurred.
"The terrorists involved in today's attack came on foot and failed to reach the parade area, and a quick response from our forces prevented a much greater tragedy," he told the AP.
Initially, no group has claimed responsibility for the attack.
