Over 350 households have been evacuated, roads have been closed and schools have cancelled today's lessons.
The situation is worst in Campanillas near Málaga, where a river has overflowed and forced hundreds of residents to leave their homes. The evacuated people slept in a nearby sports facility on Tuesday night.
According to the Andalusian authorities, 19 rivers in the region are now threatening to overflow. A total of 40 main roads have been closed, as well as several train lines, due to the rising water masses.
The same area was severely affected by heavy rainfall in November last year, when more than 233 people died in devastating floods.
