The ongoing conflict between Sudan's regular army and RSF has divided Sudan into two parts: the army controls the country's central, eastern, and northern parts, while RSF controls large parts of Darfur in the west and certain parts of southern Sudan.
At the beginning of last week, the military-backed government, led by army leader Abdel Fattah al-Burhan, launched a comprehensive offensive against the remaining rebels in Khartoum. According to a statement from Sudan's army, the capital Khartoum is now "free from rebels". At the same time, RSF has since March stepped up the war with drone and artillery attacks on several parts of the country.
The war has so far killed tens of thousands of people, displaced 13 million, and created what the UN has described as the world's worst humanitarian crisis.
On Friday, reports came from a military source that RSF had bombed the city of El-Obeid and hit two hospitals and residential areas.
