Julian Nagelsmann needed to do something to change the game against Ivory Coast. At the hour mark, the national team coach made a triple substitution.

It had an effect - immediately.

Nadiem Amiri received the ball on the edge, turned and made a perfect cross that Deniz Undav thundered in to make it 1–1.

The goal came at a time when Germany were pressing for an equaliser. In the first half, Ivory Coast had taken the lead through midfielder Franck Kessie.

For a long time, the match was heading towards a draw, but in the 94th minute, the same Undav stepped up, made it 2–1 and sent Germany to the playoffs.

The result means that the Germans now have six points after two matches. Ivory Coast have three points.
