On the contrary, the number of events and participants has more than halved since 2019.
"It is remarkable that participation and number of events have remained at such low levels even in the years after the pandemic," says investigator Erik Vestin in a press release.
In 2024, the number of circle meetings in cultural activities was 58 percent lower than in 2019 and the number of cultural events was 66 percent lower.
According to Erik Vestin, the decline is relatively evenly spread across municipal types, subjects and associations.
Music is the largest subject within cultural activities, which also includes, for example, visual arts, fiction and writing, crafts, and design.
