However, it was e-commerce that accounted for the month's strongest growth. Online clothing sales increased by 15.2 percent and shoe sales by 12.8 percent compared with May last year.
"May is characterized by student celebrations, graduations, weddings and other occasions when many people want to dress up a little extra. Together with a somewhat stronger household economy, this has contributed to a strong month for the fashion trade," says Sofia Larsen, CEO of Svensk Handel, in a press release.
