A peace settlement on Ukraine will likely not look like many hoped, warns Finnish President Alexander Stubb.

"All the conditions for a just peace that we have talked so much about over the past four years will likely not be met," he said in a television interview.

The next few weeks will show whether the attempts to reach a peace agreement in the Ukraine war bear fruit, the president tells MTV Uutiset .

Stubb says he was initially frustrated by the original 28-point plan put forward by the US, which has been widely called a Russian wish list. Now Europe is trying to ensure that Ukraine's sovereignty and territorial integrity are preserved in the peace process, Stubb says.

Peace can be good, bad, or some type of compromise.
