He was on course to become a hero in the Champions League qualifier against Slovan Bratislava after making it 1-0 from the penalty spot. But Elliot Stroud was denied hero status as the visitors turned things around and won 2-1.

There is now also much to suggest that the 24-year-old has played his last game for Mjällby. In an interview with Aftonbladet after the match, he was directly asked whether the qualifying loss was his last match for the club.

"As it seems now, yes, it was. Then we'll see what happens," he replied.

Stroud, who played at the World Cup with Sweden earlier this summer, is rumoured to be signing for Premier League club Hull, according to several media outlets.
